What to do in the surroundings

  • Nordic Watercolor Museum

The Nordic Watercolor Museum in Skärhamn is a lovely place to spend an easy afternoon. It’s right by the sea, surrounded by those typical Tjörn rocks, and the atmosphere is very calm. The exhibitions change often, so there’s always something new to see. Even if you’re not a big art person, it’s worth going just for the setting!

  • Dyrön

Dyrön is a small island with a surprisingly beautiful coastal trail. The path winds along cliffs, narrow passages and viewpoints where you can often spot seals. The island itself is calm and charming: a few houses, tiny beaches and lots of open space. You reach it by ferry from Rönnäng. Easy to do as a half-day trip.

  • Tjörn Island of Art

Tjörn has become a kind of open-air art island. Besides the Nordic Watercolor Museum and Pilane Sculpture Park, you’ll find small galleries, art projects and unexpected installations scattered across the landscape. It’s not a formal museum route, more an island where art and nature mix naturally.

  • Pilane Sculpture Park

Pilane is a mix of art and landscape. The trail takes you over small hills and the sculptures pop up in unexpected spots along the way. It’s an easy walk, nothing too challenging, and on a clear day you can see all the way to Marstrand. A good choice if you want something cultural, outdoorsy but not a full hike.

  • Tjörns Golfklubb

Golf lovers won’t want to miss Tjörns Golfklubb, located just a short drive away. The course offers 18 challenging holes set in a beautiful coastal landscape, with varied terrain and sea views that make every round interesting, both for experienced players and ambitious beginners. After your game you can relax at the clubhouse!

  • Klädesholmen

Klädesholmen is a small island village with a real coastal feel: white wooden houses, little harbors, boats everywhere. It’s a simple place to enjoy: stroll along the waterfront, grab a fika, or sit by the rocks and watch the water. If you’re into food, it’s also known for its herring tradition, and some restaurants focus on local seafood.

  • Beaches

Along the Tjörn coastline you’ll find plenty of spots for a swim: small sandy beaches, smooth granite rocks and quiet little bays. The water is clear and usually calm. Perfect for a quick dip, a slow morning in the sun or a few hours with a towel and a book. We’ll happily advise you our favorite beaches during your stay!

  • Sailing & Kayaking

The waters around Tjörn are ideal for getting out on the sea. Sailing is big here: sheltered bays, small islands and just the right amount of wind. Kayaking is calmer but just as beautiful, you can go between islets, along cliffs and sometimes past seabirds up close. Suitable for both beginners and people with more experience.

  • Gothenburg & Oslo

Gothenburg is about an hour away and perfect for a day in the city. Charming neighbourhoods like Haga, good museums, lots of cafés and a harbour area.

Oslo is a bit farther but easy enough for a day trip. The city feels modern and spacious, right by the fjord.
